Have a new Showit template to use? Woohoo! But now, how do you actually load it into your Showit account?
This post will walk you through it step-by-step. And I’ve got videos for brand new Showit users as well as folks who’ve already started (and text if you’re more of a reader).
So if you’re new and haven’t worked on a website in Showit before, start here.
If you’ve already started in Showit but are adding a whole new website to your account, start here.
If you’re a Showit user and just want to add a page or a canvas to your existing website, start here.
So let’s go!
Adding a Template to a Brand New Showit Account
Here are step-by-step instructions on how to add a Showit template to your brand new Showit account. And if you don’t have a Showit account yet, you can get a month for free here.
If you prefer to read the instructions, just scroll past the video!
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
After you create your account (or login), this is the first screen that you’re going to see when you log in to Showit’s editing app.
Go to the “Your Designs” tab.
Click “Add design to library”.
Then with your purchase, you’ll have received a PDF that has lots of information for you, including the most important thing, which is the shared design key. That’s a string of letters and numbers. That’s unique to each template. So go to your PDF and just copy that design key.
And then come back here and paste it in and hit enter.
This will show you a squashed up little preview of your template that you’re adding and you just click add.
Now you’ll get a success message and close that. And now you should see that template back in the “Your Designs” tab.
All you need to do is click on the template. Then you’ll see a little bit of a preview – just scroll down until you get to the bottom of that pop up. Click start with this design and that’s going to load up the template for you. And you’re ready to start customizing!
In order to help you get your website launched right away I’ve got a whole course called “Learn Showit & Launch Fast”. It’s completely free and you’re welcome to join right here.
Adding a Template to Your Existing Showit Account
If you’ve already got a Showit account and have a website or other template loaded up, this video is for you. It will show you how to quickly get your new Showit template added in so you can get to work on your website.
And if you’d rather read the instructions, just scroll down beyond the video!
STEP-BY-STEP INSTRUCTIONS
Log in to Showit and click to enter any of the designs that you already have.
Then click on your name in the bottom left corner.
If you want to create a brand new website click on “Create a new design”.
Go to the “Your Designs” tab. Click “Add design to library”, and then grab the PDF that came with your purchase or download.
Inside that PDF is a shared design key – copy that from your PDF and then paste it into the box on screen and hit enter. Click “Add now” and you’ll get a success message.
So now you can choose your new template to start your design.
When you click the template, it’s going to bring up this sort of preview screen so you can check it. And then you just click “Start with this design” and your new template will populate in your account and you can start customizing it.
Alternative Way to Add a Showit Template to Your Existing Account
This way is best if you just want to add a page or canvas from your template to an existing website.
Click your name in the bottom left corner.
Then click “Add to Library”. In the popup, add the “Shared Design” key from the PDF that came with your purchase or download and hit enter.
Now when you add a page or canvas to your existing site, choose the “My Library” tab in the popup.
You’ll see your template listed there – click it! Then find the page you want, or if you’re adding a canvas, find the page and then the canvas. Click it to select. At the bottom of the popup, you have the option of applying your fonts and colors or using the original – choose one (I recommend using your fonts and colors). Then click add and you’re all set!
