Brandy DeOrnellas is the founder of Life by Design Coaching. She offers life, career and small business coaching for people who are ready for change.
The brand’s aesthetic and style are: professional, inspiring, capable.
When Brandy was just starting out, she built her business website on Wix. It was fine to start, but as her business started to grow, she needed a more sophisticated site that better showcased her offerings. And, Brandy wanted to improve the site’s navigation so that visitors could more easily find what they were looking for.
In particular, the Wix website didn’t look good on mobile so the user experience wasn’t what it needed to be to land clients. And the website could be a bit of a pain to edit.
Finally, Brandy had some new programs to help her clients and wanted to present them in the most beautiful way possible. And Wix just wasn’t cutting it.
Challenges
To have a more sophisticated website that demonstrated the brand’s values and offerings
To give potential clients all the information they need and get excited about coaching
To get clients into the new Career Transitions program
To have an easy-to-navigate website so people can find what they are looking for
To maintain or even improve ranking on Google and other search engines
Brandy fell in love with Tonic Site Shop’s Paloma template for Showit. It’s beautifully designed and had all the pages she needed (and more) to showcase her offerings and build her business.
But, being such a robust template and with the new content Brandy wanted to add, she needed a hand and hired me to help.
I moved existing text over from the Wix website to Showit, but also added newly written content. Brandy also had some new brand photography and styled stock images from Social Squares, which we used to turn the template into a website that was truly hers.
Although the mobile version of the template was already set up, it needed some tweaking after adding the content. So I went through all the pages to make sure the experience was top notch, whether visitors were on their phone, an iPad or a laptop.
To help Brandy grow her email list, I created some new forms in Flodesk and integrated them with her Showit website. Now it’s easy for visitors to sign up to her email newsletter and download her opt-in.
SEO (search engine optimization) was also an important part of this project. Brandy needed potential clients to be able to easily find her on Google or other search engines, so I added new and improved page titles and meta descriptions strategically using her keywords. I also compressed and renamed all her images with keywords before adding them to her Showit website.
When it was time to launch, I changed the DNS settings to point from Wix to Showit and voila! Brandy’s new and much improved website was live and ready for potential clients to check out.
A site that’s optimized for mobile users and is easy to navigate
Improved SEO so her site will rank higher on search engines
A new sales page to get clients into her Career Transition program
A beautiful, professional website that showcases her offerings
Brandy now has...
"I had a vision for my website, which was beautifully captured in the Showit template I chose. Michele knew how important it was to keep the design as true to the original as possible. Though this was no easy feat given the unique content and graphics I wanted to share, she pulled it off beautifully!"
Michele is a fantastic ally and asset! Work with her!
